Classical music is a bit of a misnomer really. Because the genre includes not just old music, but contempory orchestral music as well. It also includes movie scores a lot of the time. Personally, I don't usually have the patience for classical music, even when I recognize that it is worthy of respect. When I am in the mood, I'd probably rather listen to Mozart or Bach or Beethovan - one of those famous guys from the baroque period - than to a contempory composer. Maybe crappy conceptual soundscapes have made me unfairly biased against contemporary classical music, but I suspect that I feel the way I do simply because relevant artists nowadays don't work in this genre.
