http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/ Biggest noticeable items are: Podcast downloads live from iTunes (no need to dock just to get your Podcast updates anymore) and Google Maps StreetView. Honestly not a ton of stuff I'm all that stoked about, and Apple STILL REFUSES to put the widescreen keyboard into the Mobile Mail. Yes there are Appstore freebies that add it, but Apple needs to - MOSS 2007 (aka Failpoint Server)

Despite the fact that it's en-vogue to pick on Microsoft, I've never been that hard on MS software. It's been part of my livlihood the past 15 years and I know that if you Tweek here, tweek there, and you can make any MS product operate smoothly. Update: You can see the official trailer here in all its glory. Just saw it here, it will probably get pulled but it's also on Youtube, or here. From the brief flashes of the Enterprise's corridors & bridge, the damn thing looks more futuristic than The Next Generation, let alone departing from most of the look of the original series...which this was supposed to be a prequel to. I completely missed this bit of info from MS last month. Interesting precedent. This means all future versions of the Windows won't support 32-bit CPU servers. Data center budgets may soar, but I wonder what this means for desktops PCs running Windows? Windows 7 will surely support 32-bit, but Windows 8 may not. - 8.2 miles to Better Health...

So I started bicycling to work 3 times a week. For"suit days" (vendor/work meetings or other haps) I'm driving the old Teutonic beast, but for the most part biking is infinitely easier than Dallas rush-hour traffic. I keep mostly to residential streets as long as I can before I get near the DART station, then I hop the train and go downtown. I never realized how bicycle un-friendly Dallas is - I park where they shot Robocop...

Okay so every geek on earth knows Robocop, the 1987 movie (director Paul Verhoven did Total Recall & Starship Troopers). I never liked it much, but if I see it on TV I always like to watch it to spot the Dallas buildings (the first Robocop was mostly shot in Dallas in 1986). As I prepare to sit the CCNP exam by end of year, I'm wondering where to go next. I'm told the CCIE is the next logical step, and as one of the most difficult IT certifications today, it's where a lot of Cisco certified people go. But in developing IT architectures, I work with Microsoft and a host of other Vendors from VMWare to NetApp to Citrix...and so I wonder if the MCA cert is the next - FedEx Kinkos are copyright losers...

...so I've been fiddling with recording lately, trying to learn some junk and today I bike over to FedEx Kinkos to drop off my Yammie manual to print so I stop ruining tracks, and I get an e-mail back from them saying: "We appreciate your business, however, because your Yamaha manual contains a copyright notice, we are unable to complete your print request" This, a free downloadable manual from - Ahhh, comforting to see some things return to normal

One of the places I remember passing through on a trip in NH with my first wife was Dixville Notch NH. I don't remember a lot about this little town, but I do remember my that former father-in-law told me how they always tried to vote first in the state, around midnight election day. And he added that they ALWAYS voted Republican. I looked it up earlier in the evening and they reliably voted GOP
