Froman and the Sausage Committee - "Pole Position"
    Sun, 21 May 2006 13:45:56 -0400
The Sausage Committee is headlined by none other than Abe Froman, the self proclaimed Sausage King of Chicago. SAUSAGE? Well...the term sausage is used rather loosely, symbolizing one's manhood. His self titled rap group offers nothing but fun and mischief for DJs and club goers.

Opening for such well known Hip-Hop artists as Fat Joe and Jadakiss, Froman generally preps the crowd before the group begins its tirade on stage. "I don't know what it is, but we tend to win crowds over. Ok, it must be the sausage, it's so universal", explains Sir Loin. Also known as Froman and the Sausage Committee or simply Froman, the group's performances are full of energy and life. Each member: Frank Jumbo, Sir Loin, Jack Linx and of course Abe Froman adds to the onstage mystic. Phil Brumant, manager of Chicago's Choices Night Club, has repeatedly invited the group to participate in the venue's showcases as a crowd favorite. Reminiscent of such groups as Digital Underground, Froman's candid tale of fun and mischief is generating street buzz throughout Chicago.

    Band Members:
    Abe Froman - Executive Producer
    Frank Jumbo - lyricist/vocalist
    Awon Sauce - lyricist
    Sir Loin - lyricist/vocalist
    Jack Linx - lyricist
    Sledge Sausage - lyricist

    40 Mill aka 40 Million Stories - "I Don't Care"
    Wed, 2 Aug 2006 09:17:48 -0400
40 Mill is a montage of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly of inner city life. A survivor of one of the most gruesome gang wars this country has seen (Boston, ma circa 1989-92), 40 Mill has used that pain and sorrow to build a new foundation for LIFE. As one of the frontmen for the Source Magazine's WISEGUYS project, 40 Mill (then known as OBC) was the creative light for a rather dangerous circle of former gang members, turned rap artists. Due to creative growth and change in personal views, OBC changed his name to 40 Mill - which reflects his ability to write, and perform over any kind of HIP HOP tracks...Whether over an R&B groove, a hardcore street banger, something to make you think, or hot club record filled with bling, and bragado - 40 Mill delivers it all! His ability to adapt to any track, and his ability to hypnotize his listeners into following his lead is what sets him apart from the rest. Cool, Charismatic, and Cocky are what best describes him. He is the voice and conscience of the streets and his "40 million stories", are both the documentary and soundtrack of neighborhoods all across the country.

    Madgesdiq - "1 4 3"
    Sat, 27 Aug 2005 11:07:54 -0400
In these times, rappers have become bogged down in a quagmire of wackery, selling the culture short in order to make the dollars offered by the mainstream. Being original is no longer important and cats have become content to be like the next man, repeating the same old tales of jewels, cars, and street life. Not only have the rhymes become devoid of substance, but the production has suffered as well. Bounce has taken over and beat makers seem reluctant to tap into the full spectrum of musical possibilities.

Like the prophets of the Old Testament, now comes an MC to remind his peers, and heads, what hip-hop truly is. Madgesdiq comes to lead the people away from the hyperactive, halting flow favored by the many and turn them back the right way with his distinctive monotone, effortlessly delivering ill poems.

Jazmin Sky - "Wake Up Smell The Coffee"
    Fri, 5 May 2006 19:54:49 -0400
Jazmín Sky recently released her self-titled debut album, a jazz-infused concoction of neo-soul and funk grooves, flavored with gospel-inflected vocal stylings, complex harmonies, Latin rhythms, and infectious hooks. Universal themes of romantic loss, betrayal and longing recur throughout Sky's lyrics, but the album contains several quirkier tracks in addition, most notably a controversial political rant about freedom of speech (American Lie), as well as a playfully nostalgic ode to New York City (Downtown). Sky also pays homage to her idol Chaka Khan with a blistering gospel-tinged rendition of the '70's Rufus hit,You Got the Love.

Jazmín's songwriting reflects her various influences: old-school R&B and funk, traditional and acid jazz, blues, salsa, hip-hop, gospel and neo-soul. Musical role models include Prince, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway, and Aretha Franklin as well as more recent artists like Erykah Badu, Rachelle Ferrell, D'Angelo, Maxwell and Me'shell N'dgeocello.
