In this week's episode of FOR SKYBIRD... Iran says it will not stop enriching uranium as a precondition for potential talks with the United States and European allies. President Bush wants Iran to respond to an offer from the international community by next month. Iran wants to wait until August... Officials in France and elsewhere called Tuesday for a strong response by the international community to any possible missile test by North Korea. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says he considers an offer of incentives by the U.S. and other nations a step forward in solving the controversy over his country's nuclear programs. The Iranian leader spoke after attending a summit in China of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, where he sought to gain further support for Iran's position from China and Russia. The Bush administration says it expects North Korea to maintain a moratorium on long-range missile testing and to return to six-party talks on its nuclear program. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the United States has not been asked to provide security guarantees to Iran to help resolve the crisis over its nuclear program The Bush administration said Thursday it would consider talks on a formal peace treaty with North Korea, if Pyongyang returned to the six-party talks on its nuclear program and committed to disarm. The United Nations Security Council has given Iran until the end of the month to suspend its uranium enrichment activity - a process that could either be used for civilian purposes or to build nuclear weapons.
