Prayer For The Church:
Please continue to pray earnestly for a real manifestation of the work of God’s Spirit upon the ministry of His Word.
Pray for those looking for employment.
Pray for those going on holiday on Saturday.
Pray that God may give Mark, Lisa & family an enjoyable and restful holiday.
Please continue to pray for the summer camps. The dates are as follows:
CCIW camp 2 - 4th August
Winchelsea Holiday - 11th August
CCIW camp 5 - 5th August
We have helpers taking part in all these camps. Pray that God will help them in preparation.
Pray for Elizabeth as she drives down to Wales this evening.
Pray for our brothers and sisters who may have suffered from flooding that they may be a light in difficult times.
Prayer For Local Area:
New Cross
‘We thank God for blessing on the ministry of our new Pastor. Pray for wisdom in dealing with the needs of newcomers, particularly for their spiritual need.’
Prayer For Wider Area:
NEWS FROM BRIAN & NECY ELLIS, Philippines
We praise and thank the Lord for answering our prayers, at the end of May the Appeals Court declared that the newly affirmed owners of the adjacent lot could sell to us the lot and not wait for the rest of the estate to be settled. We have therefore just two weeks ago paid our down payment of £13,000 for the adjacent lot.
For quite a number of years we have been seeking land to extend our present building due to many limitations on the ministries the Lord has given to us. Our Sunday School is limited to about 100 due to lack of space (compare that to the 400 we had in two vacation bible schools). The worship area is often full. The Library needs more space so that students in Grace Ministerial Academy may study and use the library more efficiently.
The Drop-in on a Thursday night is well overcrowded and we also need car park space. The Church Office is actually located at our home, ten minutes walk from the church building.
We hope to eventually build on half of the lot to double the size of our present building giving us the facilities we need for the Lord's work.
CHRISTIAN COMPASSION MINISTRIES
The Lord has enabled us to rent for a reasonable sum a four bedroom single storey house in a very nice subdivision for use as a Boys' Home.
Thank you for your prayers for this. It is situated about one mile from our main Masinag Homes but closer to Cubao.
Currently Virginia one of the House Mothers is looking after them. She is used to boys having seven brothers. There are six boys at present but we expect to add four more sometime
this month.
EAP Youth Camp - Held last month was well attended with exactly 100 teenagers. The gospel was clearly presented during the camp. Please continue to pray that we will see conversions among these young people.
We are really in need for several in the church to run a regular meeting for some of these teenagers. At the moment we have no one who is able to lead such a work.
Please pray the Lord will show us who could begin such a ministry.

Prayer For Wider Area:
Bible Broadcasting Network – Changing lives around the world
BBN believes radio and the internet remain the most cost-effective tools for reaching people with the Gospel and teaching them 24 hours a day. We broadcast in 8 languages around the world.
BBN-Spanish Our Area Representative in Ecuador recently received a phone call from a university professor, who had many questions about life and death and reincarnation. It was truly marvellous to watch his countenance as he first learned the biblical truth of how through Christ he could be forgiven of his sins. He came to understand that God had made a way to forgive him and save him and for him to have eternal life. At 82 years of age he prayed to the Lord Jesus, placing his faith in Him." We praise the Lord for the opportunity to touch lives and sow the seed of the Word, whether through radio, the Internet, or in person.
BBN-Chinese received this email "I would like to share with you a wonderful testimony of my brother. He is assigned to teach in a rural middle school in China. His pay is low; living quality is bad in this remote area. As a result, graduate students who came over to teach usually do not stay long. Teachers teach here for two or three years will request a transfer to a better environment. So, there are no senior teachers in this rural middle school except my brother.
Actually, he was also tempted to leave for a better position when he saw his friends have better living through a transfer. Nevertheless his heart was concerned more for the poor and needy students at the rural area. Once he was asked how he could stay in such an impoverished place, and without a second thought, 'Faith in Christ' was his answer. Undoubtedly, his passion in Christ led him to serve needy people faithfully, and rooted him at this rural area.
BBN-Brazil is is also heard on the Internet we received this email from Portugal. "I have been very blessed by BBN programming. I am an evangelist in the prisons in the north part of Portugal; your programs are the source of inspirations for my preaching in the prisons. Peace of the Lord be with you!" We constantly give praise to the Lord for the way He is using this ministry!

For The Wider Area:
The Grace World View – Nauru
Nauru has been made wealthy by mining but the resources are running low. Nearly everyone professes Christianity but growing corruption makes many of these professions suspect.
Nauru is a single island located in the South Pacific. The island is only 4 miles in diameter, and most of it is not suitable for living due to extensive phosphate mining.
Approximately 13,000 people live on Nauru. Over 80% are native Nauruan or of other Pacific Islander origin. Many of the foreigners work in mining. The discovery of Phosphate in the early 1900's brought wealth to the island.
Nauru is far wealthier than the other islands in the region. The supply of Phosphate has begun to run out, so the government has diversified into offshore banking and other activities to keep the economy running. These efforts have been quite successful.
Nauru was a German colony until World War I when Australia took control.
Nauru became an independent nation in 1968 as a parliamentary republic. There is freedom of religion.
Most of the population is classified as Christian and over 50% are Protestant. Evangelicals are much fewer in number with less than 10%.
Although many profess Christianity, a large percentage do not demonstrate any degree of godliness. Wealth has brought materialism and a trust in possessions. Corruption is widespread. It is suspected that much of the offshore banking activity in Nauru is related to organized crime syndicates.
There is only one known evangelical church. Pray for the people of this church and for other believers on the island that they may stand against sin and boldly witness to the gospel. Pray for a moving of the Spirit to bring many to a true faith in the Saviour.
The foreign workers in the mining industry are largely unreached with the gospel. Pray for the provision of workers to take the message to these people.

Abingdon The church celebrated its Church Anniversary over the weekend of 23-24 June. On the Saturday over 100 attended a Fellowship Day in Hanney Village Hall. In the morning consideration was given to the strengths and weaknesses of the church. In the afternoon there was a time of family fun & games with a closing message from Stuart Olyott on the subject of worship. Stuart also preached on the Sunday.
The church correspondent writes:
“On 1 July we have a young man visiting us as a potential second full-time worker.
On 21 July we have the wedding of David Kneale, our missionary in SE Asia, to Ivy from that area.
16-18 of our members are involved in beach missions in various centres throughout the summer.”
For Wider Area:
Christian future in Pakistan reconsidered
Current Pakistani protests over the British knighthood of author Salman Rushdie have raised fears over the future of Christians in the country. Pakistani Religious Affairs Minister Ejaz-ul-Haq told Parliament that the British honour contributes to "insulting Islam" and may lead to terrorism.
Meanwhile, a mob attack on evangelicals last week appears to be symptomatic of religious hatred which seemingly has heightened. On June 17, approximately forty Muslim men armed with guns, axes and wooden sticks attacked several believers while they were preparing for an evangelistic meeting at a Salvation Army church in the village of Bismillahlpur Kanthan.
Glenn Penner of Voice of the Martyrs-Canada describes it as a matter of constant harassment. "Pakistani Christians face this on a daily basis--not being able to get decent work or facing discrimination in the workplace, if they can find jobs at all. Persecution isn't just incidents; it's an environment as well, and Pakistani Christians feel very much under pressure."
Christians injured in the attack were forced to leave the hospital after only a few hours of treatment, and doctors under-reported their wounds due to pressure from the militants. Police initially refused to file a complaint against the attackers and did so only after lobbying efforts from local Christians. Several Christians have fled the area in fear of further attacks.
Penner urges prayer that Christians in Pakistan will not give in to fear. "It's a symptom of Christians who were attacked because they were involved in evangelistic work. They had been threatened. They had been told to cancel this evangelistic meeting. When they refused to do so, they were attacked. This is, unfortunately, not uncommon in Pakistan."
Pray that the victims of this attack will display the love of Christ to their Muslim neighbours and trust God for justice.
1. Pray that believers would be strong in their faith.
2. Pray that Christians in Pakistan will not give in to fear.
3. Pray that the victims of this attack will display the love of Christ to their Muslim neighbours and trust God for justice.

For The Wider Area:
The Grace World View – Mozambique
The people of Mozambique have suffered greatly for decades. Peace has finally come but most people lack adequate food. After years of suppression, religious freedom has come and with it, a great increase in the number of Christians.
Mozambique is located on the southeastern coast of Africa. It shares borders with Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.
Approximately 21 million people live in Mozambique.
The growth rate has dropped significantly due to widespread AIDS infection. There are many different people groups speaking nearly 40 different languages.
Mozambique has had deep economic difficulty for most of its history. Cycles of Flooding and drought plus war has left the people desperately short of food. Foreign aid is essential to avoid mass starvation. Mozambique has been one of the world's poorest countries for many years. The situation has improved recently but is still difficult.
After nearly five centuries as a Portuguese colony, Mozambique gained independence in 1975 and established a Marxist government. Rebels waged a bloody civil war for the next 20 years.
A multi-party democracy was established in 1990 and a peace treaty went into effect in 1992. The government has been relatively stable since then.
Although there is now freedom of religion, the years of Marxist rule were a very dark and difficult for Christians. Religious freedom and decades of suffering has brought about a genuine hunger for the gospel. Since 1960, the number of evangelicals has grown from little more than zero to nearly 15% of the population, and many more are coming to Christ. The Lord has brought a great ingathering of souls.
Rapid growth has created a need for Bible education for religious leaders. Few churches have adequately trained pastors. Bibles and other Christian literature are in short supply due to cost and difficulty in distribution.
There are still large parts of the country that have not been evangelized. Pray for more harvesters to go to this field and preach the gospel. Pray for those already working there.
Pray for relief efforts in this period of famine that the physical needs of the people would be met and that they would also hear of Jesus, the Bread of Life.

Barnabas Fund Report - Indonesian Sunday School Teachers Released
Dr Rebekka Zakaria, Mrs Ratna Bangun and Mrs Eti Pangesti, three Indonesian women who were jailed after allowing Muslim children to attend their Christian children’s club, were released early from their 3-year prison sentence on 8th June 2007.
The women had run a children’s club called “Happy Week”, in which they sang Christian songs, played games and did Bible studies with children. Following the request of a Muslim grandmother to let her grand-daughters attend, the women began allowing Muslim children to come along. All the Muslim parents were aware that the club was run by Christians and involved Christian teaching.
However, after a day-trip was organised by the women, to which parents were also invited, complaints were made about the “Happy Week” club to the police. The women were arrested on May 13th 2005. They were accused of trying to entice the children to convert against their wills.
During the court case some of the parents were too frightened to be witnesses on behalf of the women, for fear of reprisals from the Muslim community. Angry Muslims attended the trial each day, shouting for the women to be killed. The Muslims also brought a coffin to court and threatened to kill the women if they were found innocent.
The judge, who was afraid the crowd would turn violent if he released the women, sentenced them to three years in jail.
Their early release after two years is an answer to prayer, and Rebekka, Ratna and Eti are now reunited with their families. During their time in prison, they did not waste their time but openly witnessed to the other prisoners and the prison staff. It is reported that they “transformed” the prison, cleaning and scrubbing the cells, working in the garden and painting a room for use as a church.
Rebekka, who has lost her licence to practise as a doctor due to her criminal record, has publicly forgiven those who brought the charges against her. On her release she said, “This is nothing compared with the suffering and persecution faced by others. Compared with the Lord’s love and what He has given me, it is worth it.”

The Grace World View – Myanmar
Myanmar is traditionally Buddhist, but the gospel has made inroads. The government actively promotes Buddhism and persecutes Christians, but the number of believers has continued to grow.
Myanmar was named Burma until 1989, and the name change remains disputed. Myanmar is located in southeast Asia on the Bay of Bengal. It shares borders with Thailand, Laos, China, India, and Bangladesh, but a horseshoe shaped range of mountains effectively isolates the country from its neighbours.
Approximately 47 million people live in Myanmar. Burmese is the majority people group, but there is a large number of ethnic minorities. Tensions with the minority groups has long been a source of civil unrest.
A wealth of natural resources provide great potential for economic development, but the economy has never effectively grown. Years of government corruption and civil unrest impoverished the people. Meanwhile, a thriving black market exports huge amounts of opium for illicit drug production.
Myanmar gained independence from Britain in 1948 under a centralized military government. When multi-party elections were finally held in 1990, the opposition party won in a landslide but was never allowed to take power. To this day, the military still controls the country and actively suppresses the ethnic minorities.
Buddhism is no longer the official state religion, but its practice is strongly encouraged by the government. Nearly all Burmese people are Buddhist. However, a significant number of minorities have come to Christ. Over 5% of the population is classified as evangelical.
Christians are routinely persecuted as the government associates the ethnic minorities with the practice of Christianity, but the gospel has a strong base. Persecution has made the church stronger.
Pray for the churches and for native pastors who are well trained. Liberal theology has crept into a few of the Bible schools. Pray for continued boldness in witness in the face of persecution. The Burmese people have shown an openness to the gospel. Pray that more would come to Christ.
Bibles and other Christian literature are in short supply. Imports are severely limited by the government. Most of what is available is printed in the country. Many languages still need a Bible translation. Pray for the provision of more translators and the means to print and distribute Bibles.

1 Outreach in the summer. Wandsworth in conjunction with Twynholme Baptist Church is planning to host a Canadian Youth Outreach Team who will assist the Church in our outreach programme to mainly the young people in the community. We are hoping they will also be able to assist us with our Holiday Bible Club. Please pray that the teams presentation of the Gospel will have an impact on the community.
2 In September the Church is preparing to join with some of the central Wandsworth Churches to run our third community outreach bbq in the High Street. Please pray that as many hear the Gospel presented to them that The Lord Will Bring His People into the Church through this community outreach.
3 That the after-school care group currently running in the Church (Little Smurfs) will become more established and that opportunities for us to Present the Gospel to the local community will grow out of this project.
4 Please continue to pray that the Church will see fruit from the Friday Evening Youth Clubs. Please pray for the three teenagers who were Baptised earlier this year and for the new members joining the Church at this time that the Lord will raise up a new generation of leaders through this work. Special prayer is asked for the Friday night Impact Group as they move on from Christianity Explained to a book study in Ruth.

News from Ted Tweet – Missionary to Honduras, C.A.
The work of the Lord continues to march right along in the Sovereign God Baptist Church in San Pedro Sula, where we hold services on Sundays and Thursdays. The second and fourth Saturdays of the month, we have begun a young people's class in the afternoon, and are beginning with a 12-lesson study of Christian virtues.
A couple times a month, we go to the mission in Jesus de Otoro. We are rejoicing to see some growth in attendance, with new visitors and also some of those who had been disciplined coming back again as well. One young man made a profession of faith this past week, for which we thank the Lord, and we trust that he will enjoy his new found faith in Christ as a new child of God.
During this month, I was able to re-wire part of the mission building in Jes's de Otoro for new lighting. The voltage is so low because of the great load on the transformer. It serves at least 400 homes and we are on the far side of it. I had to change the two tube-type fluorescent 80 watt fixtures to five small screw type fluorescent fixtures. It works! Praise the Lord! The others lights would be strong through the singing service and then shut off, but the new ones work through the whole service!
The third Sunday of the month, I have arranged to be gone, in order to preach in the sister churches. This time, on Saturday evening, I preached in Lis Lis, and the members of the Balfate church and mission in Limeras came as well. We stayed overnight in La Ceiba and had a good visit with our members there. Sunday morning we returned to the same general area to once again proclaim the precious Word of God, this time in Balfate.
The mission group from Limeras and the Lis Lis church met together in Balfate to hear the message from the Lord. The Lord gave me perfect peace and liberty to proclaim His Word, which we trust touched the hearts of many souls. We hope and pray that it will bring about lasting results.

News from Blythswood Care – Romanian Village transformed by the gospel
A gypsy community in Romania has been transformed by the gospel as a pastor supported by Blythswood Care has worked there over the past year.
Social workers used to be afraid to visit Borumblaca because of the aggressive behaviour of the people.
But since Adrian Costea began preaching and visiting them in their homes there has been a change of attitude.
"There used to be such spiritual darkness," says Dan Micula, a fellow-pastor in the nearby town of Marghita. "We prayed for a minister for nearly two years.
A former prostitute was the first to become a Christian. "Adrian was preaching about Mary Magdalene and she was very touched," Dan says. "She said that she wanted to be forgiven and to change her lifestyle. Last year she was baptised."
Now around 50 people are, in Dan's words, "serious enough with God to become Christians."
"The people are more open and friendly. They listen to Adrian and respect him."
In good weather, Adrian holds a Sunday morning service outside, in the unpaved street that winds through the hillside village.
Alpha Educational and Welfare Society - Andhra Pradesh, India
Sister Mary Ratna Kumari works as a lady evangelist with the Alpha Educational and Welfare Society, she was widowed at an early age.
Before her alcoholic husband died, she received comfort through a verse in John's Gospel: "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you" (15 v.16).
A month later, reading in Acts 17, Sister Mary felt that God was calling her to resign her job as a teacher and dedicate herself to preaching the gospel. That was in 1989. 12 years later, Alpha's board invited her to take charge of the society.
Alpha helps 32 pastors and 12 lady evangelists, feeds 30 orphans and destitute children and supports 10 elderly widows. When Alpha's team of evangelists visits a village, the men sing and preach in the street but the lady evangelists are able to go from house to house, talking to the women and leading them to Christ.
"Many families are broken because the men spend their wages on liquor," Sister Mary says. "Our lady evangelists comfort and counsel them. They pray for them and encourage them to pray to the Lord."
