Roots rock and roll, heavy rock, folk/rock, pop/rock, acoustic screamo...whatever you like - this show has a little something for you. This encore episode showcases Indie music from Germany (Pull A Star Trip), the UK (Tom McKean and the Emperors), Austria (Gustave Berthe), Russia (Puzzlescum), Australia (King Curly), Canada (Number One World), and the good ol' US of A (The Wildlife and Neil Benjamin). It will definitely bring you a planetary tour of some of the best music from the Indie and Unsigned world. - Heart of the Night Show Encore from August 8th, 2006
Wed, 30 Apr 2008 01:00:16 -0500 Author: jillnojack@indieheart.com (jill no jack)
This encore episode of the Heart of the Night Show reaches back to August of 2006 to run the gamut with an all out bit of madness from refrag (New Zealand) to a gentle acoustic tune from Misanthropy (UK). In between, tunes from a great gaggle of Canadian musicians, including Melissa McClelland, LoadPuller, Tim Tibbitts, Carly and Mark, and Daniel Iorio. The show ends with Iowa's Circle of Friends and show hostess, jill no jack, taking a turn as vocalist to poke a bit of fun at everyone's favorite "Pop Princess", Britney Spears. (Yeah...that's right - everyone is taking a turn at that these days, eh? It's starting to not even be fun anymore.) One click subscription in iTunes! One Click Subscription!

This last show before the HOTN show goes on hiatus brings you some terrific new songs. England's crashtv has been kind enough to grant the Heart of the Night Show an exclusive track from the upcoming CD, Soundput, and I think you're going to dig it! This show also includes a wonderful acoustic pop tune from Paul Liddell's new EP, New Thing Coming, an out-of-character but beautifully sad acoustic tune from Colorado's Our Funeral Forgotten, and some good old rock 'n roll from New Jersey's Headlights on the Coastline and Wisconsin's Certain Stars. We round out the show with Mr. Sexy Voice from Pakistan himself, Moby.MK.II. (The guys listening to the show may not get it, but we ladies need a treat once in a while, don't we?) Stay warm this week with a nice selection of international Indie and Unsigned music. Two of our bands this week find their way to us from "Down Under" (although I think that may be a matter of perspective - after all, who's to say who's on top, eh?). Two very nicely different styles of music from Australia are offered up by Ginja Roe (Acoustic Rock) and Pointbreak Spy (Guitar-focused instrumental with surf, blues, reggae and electronica influences). We also spend some time in up Canada way this week with performances by Quebec's Daniel Iorio and Ontario's Braintoy. Just to balance things out, we also throw in Tom McKean and the Emperors from the UK and Chicago's Athens. One Click Subscription!

We have one artist debut on the Heart of the Night Show this week, with a terrific track from Willy Derryberry's new CD "Seven". Then, enjoy second night performances from The Sugar Dames, Offcutts, and Calico Horse. Steaming Dookies, a long-time favorite of the Heart of the Night show playlist makes an appearance just to shake things up, and towards the end of the show, San Francisco's Blind Willies prove once again that traditionally styled folk music can sound aggressively modern. I'll be short and sweet with the info tonight because I am writing well past the "Heart of the Night" and on into early morning. We welcome some fine new artists to the show this week including Moby.MK.II from Pakistan, and The Good Luck Joes and Certain Stars from the US Midwest. Returning artists to the show include the Radio Orpphans, Droll, and Boddicker. This show features the debut of several bands new to the Heart of the Night Show. First up is Australia's Offcutts, and you are going to dig their mixed genre brand of high energy rock and roll. Also in the rock and roll vein is a young band from Colorado called Our Funeral Forgotten. For fans of the more mellow side of the Heart of The Night Show, we have the "Fabuloso" ukelele stylings of Melvern Taylor (Massachusetts) with what may turn out out to be my favorite song of the year. The show also introduces Francis Jocky (NY) with thoughtful, internationally-flavored Pop. The last show of the year wouldn't be complete without an walk on the wild side of the show, so we also offer up a dose of "Dopamine" from the global collaboration, ink1. This week's show instroduces a couple of top-notch bands from the U.S, Shock of the Cold (Detroit) and Athens (Chicago), both of which offer up inspired rock tunes to keep the blood flowing as winter falls over half of the globe. While we're on the theme, it only makes sense to throw in some brand new music from Cambridge, England's The Winter Kings. We've got a bit of summertime from the other side of the world with one Refrag's ever-interesting electronic compositions from down New Zealand way. This show also brings you a couple of singer/songwriters you are sure to enjoy. Dan Tindall is an old favorite of the Heart of the Night Show and you'll enjoy a cut from his newest CD, The Folks Underground, while Fran Snyder (Kansas) rounds out the show with a hooky and beautifully played tune that definitely won't leave your ears "Ruined".
