Historical archaeologist Jerry Bryant, Research Curator at Deadwood's Adams Museum & House, takes Real Deadwood Podcast host Paul Dennis on a tour of some of Deadwood's historic trails in his Yamaha Rhino four-wheel-drive ATV, nicknamed the Doodlebug. Starting in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, they drive to the very top to visit the grave of Seth Bullock and his wife. Then they drive down the back of Mt. Moriah to a site that was severely burned during the Grizzly Gulch fire of 2002, which came dangerously close to devastating the town of Deadwood. On June 24, 2005 these eleven HBO Deadwood actors kicked off their visit to the real Deadwood with a press conference at the Holiday Inn Express: Robin Weigert (Calamity Jane), Paula Malcomson (Trixie), W.Earl Brown (Dan Dority), Jim Beaver (Ellsworth), Sean Bridgers (Johnny Burns), Titus Welliver (Silas Adams), Peter Jason (Con Stapleton), Richard Gant (Hostetler), Franklin Ajaye (Samuel Fields, The N*gger General), Pasha D. Lychnikoff (Blazanov), and Monty "Hawkeye" Henson (Silas Adams' henchman Hawkeye). An interview with Michael Schwarz, President of Kikim Media, and Associate Producer Erika Trautman on the porch of the Adams House Museum in July of 2006. Guns belonging to Wild Bill Hickok and his close friend Charlie Utter are part of a collection recently purchased by the City of Deadwood at a California auction. This is a video of the unveiling ceremony at Deadwood's Adams Museum on October 7, 2006 featuring Deadwood Mayor Francis Toscana, Historic Preservation officer Kevin Kuchenbecker, and Adams Museum director Mary Kopco. The Wild Bill Hickok Collection is a treasure trove of artifacts and archival material related to the legendary lawman of the American West. The collection includes a number of historically priceless pieces including the 1860 Colt conversion pistol reportedly worn by Hickok when he was killed at the Saloon No. 10 on August 2, 1876 in Deadwood. Among the 18 items are also letters from Hickok and his immediate family, and a firearm owned by Colorado Charlie Utter. - Real Deadwood Podcast #17 (24mb)

Every August as many as 400,000 bikers come to the Black Hills of South Dakota for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. There is a huge spillover into all the communities of the Black Hills including Deadwood. Here is a glimpse of how Deadwood looks and sounds on one of the last days of the rally. The audio for this video is recorded binaurally, which means stereo microphones were positioned on either side of the head like human ears. The result is that, when listening with headphones, instead of the sound seeming to be inside your head, the sound is outside your head exactly as recorded. - HBO Deadwood actors press conference at Bullock Hotel (85mb)
