- FoxShow #60: Interview with Ken Levy from Southwest Fox 2008
Wed, 29 Oct 2008 13:17:00 GMT
FoxShow #60 features an interview with Ken Levy recorded on the second day of Southwest Fox 2008.
We talked about a number of things including what he's been doing since he left Microsoft, the new CodeCast podcast that he is doing with EPS, APPScanX - a new VFP tool for helping to scan projects and code for specific elements and what he feels his contribution has been to the FoxPro community.
Enjoy! - FoxShow #59: Profiling and Refactoring (from Southwest Fox 2008)
Sat, 25 Oct 2008 12:33:00 GMT Author: foxshow@gmail.com
From Southwest Fox 2008 in Mesa Arizona, here is the audio from my Profiling and Refactoring session. In it, we discuss what refactoring is and what it isn't and how the VFPX Code Analyst helps make refactoring easier in Visual FoxPro. We also discuss how to best use the Log file generated from the VFP Coverage Profiler. - FoxShow 58 (Extra 2): Developer Productivity

Here's another "discussion" from Southwest Fox, all about how developers get the most out of their day and, er, shower. Discussion with Cathy Pountney, Mike Yeager, Alan Stevens, Art Bertquist, Andrew MacNeill and others. Enjoy. - FoxShow #58 (Extra): Discussion with Alan Stevens
Thu, 23 Oct 2008 10:40:00 GMT
I didn't want to do a full show on this little interview but wanted to put it into the stream because I think it's really valuable for developers to hear. It's a discussion Alan Stevens and I had one morning at Southwest Fox 2008. It was held after his talk on Agile and I had some specific questions we wanted to get into. There is some background noise as we were talking outside at the breakfast table. If you've never heard Alan speak, this is a great way of getting a feel for his sessions. Enjoy! - FoxShow #58: From SWFox 2008 - VFPX Discussion Meeting
Sat, 18 Oct 2008 11:31:00 GMT Author: foxshow@gmail.com
At SWFox, there are a number of great sessions going on, most of which have the "please do not record or tape" - however, some, like this one, were open for all and everyone was told "you are on the Internet".
This show is the entirety of the VFPX Meeting session - a session hosted by Craig Boyd, Bo Durban, Rick Schummer and myself about how the community can get better involved with VFPX itself and some other suggestions at the type of things the community wants to see.
Audio is a conference room is tough - but I've tried to increase it where needed so you can hear the people in the back row.Enjoy - FoxShow #57: What Happens at VFP Bootcamp?

This episode features an interview with Tamar Granor, Doug Hennig and Rick Schummer about their plans for Southwest Fox, the FoxPro developer conference coming up in October, 2008 in Mesa Arizona.
Hear about the great prizes, sessions and what went into the planning of this year's conference. As discussed in the interview, here is a link to Tamar's blog post about how she builds the schedule.
Also, I mentioned Jing - a handy (and free!) little tool from Techsmith for screen captures and screen casting (in Flash!).

Welcome back to the FoxShow! We've been offline for quite some time (last one was June 2006) but we're back and aiming to hit a new show at least once a month.
This particular show is a screencast of a cool new way for building web applications using FoxPro! (format is WMV - let me know if you prefer it in other formats)
The audio may be a little off
I'll be following this up with a regular podcast that includes part of the interview along with some other news items from the FoxPro community.
As always, let me know how you enjoy the show. - FoxShow #39: Interview with Kevin Cully of FoxForward 2006!
Fri, 30 Jun 2006 21:26:00 GMT
In show #39, Andrew MacNeill speaks with Kevin Cully about what he's got planned for FoxForward 2006, a conference being held in Alpharetta, Georgia from September 15-17, 2006.
More info is available <a href='http://www.foxforward.net">here</a>.
The conference looks really good with a wide variety of sessions covering basic development techniques, Ajax and FoxPro, GDI+ along with some real "case study" type sessions on FoxPro and Wireless from John Harvey at the Shelby Co. Sheriff's office and Bill Sanders filling everyone in on how CollegeCon is going ( the VFP Intern project).

Wed, 10 May 2006 18:52:00 GMT Author: foxshow@gmail.com
This show includes an interview with fellow Canadian and Microsoft Program Manager, Milind Lele, who is working on the Visual FoxPro Sedna project.
In our interview, he talks about the recent changes, how the team is working with on the community tech preview, getting feedback and work on the second VFP 9 Service Pack - similar to what was noted in the most recent VFP 9 Letter. - FoxShow #37: Interview with Rod Miller of dbi-Tech

Welcome to 2006 - what a late start in the year for the FoxShow but what a great interview we have with Doug Hennig, Rick Schummer and Craig Boyd all about SednaX, the Visual FoxPro community development project and how you can get involved. Also noted in the show:
Craig Bailey's Comments on the SurgeAnd I almost forgot - OzFoxRocks! Episode #2
Note: the audio may sound a bit strange in this show as I'm testing out a new device called RapidVoip and am not so sure on it - but would LOVE to hear your feedback.
Also to note that while this show didn't really follow a set format - newer shows will. I just have to get back on top with some new sounds, formats and more.Check out GoToMeeting - for meeting online - it's really handy and inexpensive for those quick meetings that just have to happen!

- FoxShow #35: An Interview with the legal side of John Petersen
Mon, 19 Dec 2005 15:52:00 GMT Author: foxshow@gmail.com
Sorry for the late show but I've been editing interviews. Rather than make an extra long show, Episode #35 features a part of my interview with John Petersen (YES! that JVP) about legal issues that developers need to be aware of. The interview takes up most of the show (save for the opening and the ad) - he identifies very valuable issues for Visual FoxPro and other developers to be aware of. It uses Python and MySQL. The video is in Windows Media format - not exactly multi-platform ready - if you're on a new iPod, let me know and I'll put up a Quicktime version. There's a lot more to it - but it's taking me forever to get this out of the hour long overview Ed gave me. The other pieces will be coming shortly. We'll be talking to them soon on the FoxShow as well - so if you have questions, shoot them my way and I'll be sure to ask when we do it. - FoxShow #34:

Mon, 21 Nov 2005 14:01:00 GMT Author: foxshow@gmail.com
One of the goals I've had for a long time is to try and keep the show under 30 minutes - ideally around twenty. As listeners know, this is incredibly difficult with interviews that typically last that long. So what do you think? Should I separate interviews into their own "show" ( a la BuzzOutLoud model) and thus keep the shows down in length or keep them all in one big show. It may really depend on your player. For example, when I use the Creative Muvo, it keeps track of where I am with each show and thus when I stop and restart, it picks up right where I left off. Other devices may not be so lucky.
